Class of 1955 Reunion

Western Christian's class of 1955 met at the North Place on October 9, 2015, for their 60th class reunion. Laurie (Heynen) Buyert and her husband Dan have built a unique guesthouse on her original home place a couple miles off of Highway 75 south of Perkins corner. Classmates began arriving during the afternoon to an atmosphere of rustic beauty. The weather was one of those rare fall days of warmth and beauty. The farmers were harvesting in the field so the surroundings were just right for Northwest Iowa.

Classmates came from parts beyond such as North Carolina, California, Michigan, Denver, Chicago, South Dakota and locally and were gladly welcomed. There was a lot of reminiscing and good conversation. Margaret (Boone) Bosma had made a CD of original music from our WCHS choir with Mr. P.P. DeBoer as director that we were able to listen to. Our delicious meal centered on a delicious stuffed pork loin. After more visiting, we ultimately concluded our evening with homemade pies which were a big hit.

Of the 88 classmates in the class of 1955, twenty-six alumni were able to attend; with spouses, thirty-eight total. We made note of twelve who have gone to glory and others who are ill or were otherwise unable to come. The group was encouraged to join the Western Foundation as we desire to support our alma mater. Lots of appreciation for Christian education was expressed and thankful hearts for a special time together. We had a great time!
